KHP is proud to announce a new partnership with Knox Area Transit to promote trolley ridership and a broader understanding of the rich history of downtown. If you’re looking for another fun and informative way to experience downtown, the Green Line Trolley offers a clean comfortable, air conditioned environment to sit back and see downtown from a new perspective. And it’s FREE!
Trolleys run every 10 minutes and riding the full loop on the Green Line takes about 20 minutes. According to KAT, “The Green Line Trolley offers service to Downtown Knoxville’s most happening areas. Head down Gay Street and into the Old City to visit local breweries, restaurants and shopping. Don’t forget you can use the Green Line to get straight from the free parking area in the Old City to the rest of downtown!”
A series of educational history posters highlight Knoxville icons from the past, most still evident today, including:
Iconic Gay Street, now recognized as one of America’s “Great Streets”
The Old City’s illustrious past of saloons and factories
The Main Street Post Office and its majestic marble eagles
The Old Courthouse in the oldest part of the city
The Suffrage Movement where activists sang hymns of inspiration to multi-racial crowds on Market Square
The former Market House which helped Elvis Presley be introduced to the world
Next time you are downtown, hop of the Green Line Trolley and explore this town with KAT and KHP!
