Wednesday, May 6 at 9:30 a.m. at the Eugenia Williams House, 4848 Lyons View Pike
REGISTRATION NOW OPEN, HERE.
Knoxville History Project is grateful to be one of the nonprofits favored by the Aslan Foundation to make use of the extraordinary Eugenia Williams House on Lyons View.
In this second talk by Jack Neely about the Eugenia Williams House, he’ll talk about the property, the 24 acres purchased by her father and the house that stood here before—and the somewhat mysterious stable, designed by Charles Barber, which is slightly older than the current house. Then he’ll describe Knoxville-born architect John Fanz Staub, the mansion-builder whose name is better known in Texas, and the influences that make this house unlike any in East Tennessee; and share what we know of her life in the big house and the few people who may have shared it with her.
Space is limited to 44 people and pre-registration is required. Tickets are $10 per program with a discount for current Friends of KHP Supporters. Coffee and tea will be provided, or you are welcome to bring your own.
Parking and Access: The parking area is located by the main entrance on Lyons View Pike. No parking is allowed adjacent to the house. There is a long pathway that connects the parking lot to the house. Please allow extra time to walk the pathway. If you require assistance, please contact us in advance so we can make special arrangements. If you have any questions, please call KHP at 865-337-7723 or email paul@knoxhistoryproject.org.
