Volunteer with KHP!

The Knoxville History Project is an educational nonprofit with a small and nimble staff. We appreciate the efforts of community members to assist in our work.

Currently, we are seeking help in the following ways:

Programming:

  • Proofreading stories, publications and grant applications
  • Transcribing recorded oral history interviews
  • Researching stories on Newspapers.com
  • Assisting with community research in your area
  • Recruiting community members to share interesting old photographs of Knoxville through our program, Knoxville Shoebox.

Community Outreach:

  • Introducing KHP to new audiences
  • Making business connections to stock KHP publications
  • Promoting KHP books and merchandise

Creative Services:

  • Designing brochures, flyers, and small print publications
  • Photographing sites, buildings, and events to enhance KHP programs and publications
  • Composing music for podcasts and documentaries
  • Assisting with audio engineering for podcasts
  • Helping KHP learn about new online or technological applications that can enhance KHP’s work and/or allows us to reach new audiences

Events & Fundraising:

  • Working public events
  • Recruiting table hosts and attendees for fundraising events
  • Identifying sponsorship prospects
  • Making introductions to potential donors
  • Hosting a fundraising “party with a purpose”
