1989: Around the time of the release of his first album on Capital Records, Garth Brooks, later Country Music giant, played the small Old City venue Ella Gurus run by Ashley Capps and Tom Bugg. Earlier that Spring, Brooks was a guest at the Knoxville Songwriters meeting at St. John’s Lutheran School.
