Bob Dylan Civic Coliseum The_Knoxville_News_Sentinel_1965_10_08_6

1965: Dylan played here on his “electric” tour, which was unpopular in other towns across the U.S. where he was booed off stage for not playing his popular folk songs (as depicted in A Complete Unknown). Apparently, the Knoxville crowd liked him. Decades later Dylan donated a set of harmonicas to the Coliseum which are still mounted in a display, backstage. Dylan has played Knoxville numerous times, including 1980, 1988 and in 1993-when he was supported by R.B. Morris and during Dylan’s performance a lighting rig fell on the stage and almost killed him.
