This Tuesday we’ll be hosting our last public program of the year – our annual Holiday Social at Maple Hall. We’ll open the event with a casual review of some local Christmas lore, an illustrated list of Knoxville firsts for the holiday: first Christmas trees, first Christmas Parade, first Christmas Gifts, first Christmas sales, first Hanukkah, etc., going back over 200 years, when we barely celebrated anything at all on Dec. 25, through the later period when it was a riotous event in the streets, with damage and casualties. We’ll then open the floor for a discussion of holiday memories for anyone who wants to chime in.
It’s sort of a Trivia Night, but without the pressure of team competition. And we’ll have our books and other gifts on hand, whether for major gifts or stocking stuffers.
Free program. Food and drink available for purchase.
