Veteran public-television filmmaker William Isom, recently director of the relatively new podcast-producing nonprofit Black in Appalachia, will share some of his recent research into the history of August 8, long celebrated as East Tennessee’s own Emancipation Day. He’ll tell us how it started, and how it has grown beyond our region. Isom will be giving a similar talk the day before at ETHS’s noon Brown Bag series at the History Center, but if you miss that, or want to hear it again with supper and a drink, please join us. Free program. Bar food and drinks for purchase.
