A colored postcard image of the east side of Market Square, ca. 1925. Although Market Square was originally a mostly open space with a small, one-story market house, the big Market House dominated the square from its construction in 1897 until its demolition in 1960. During that period, dozens of farmers sold produce from their trucks parked in the alleys.
